ocr: Recently, Sweden's main foreign policy concern has been obtaining membership in the EU;terms were settledin 1994.Since the collapse ofthe Soviet Union, Sweden has also alteredits traditionally neutral stance. Membership in the Western European Union and even NATO are being considered. This contrasts sharply with Prime Minister UlofPalme's periodin oftice in the 1980s, when Sweden was a vociterous critic ofthe USA's antagonistic policy toward the USSR. In 1993-1994 Sweden particpatedin the UNpeace- keeping force in the former Yugoslavia.
